How Lymphatic Drainage Supports Skin After Indulgence

The end of year festive season is often a time for overindulging and overdoing. Whether it’s more sweet foods, more alcohol and less sleep, it’s common for our skin to show the signs. A little puffier, duller or just sluggish.

Instead of seeking harsh detox treatments to get back on track, we have a gentle and supportive ritual that works with your body… Lymphatic drainage. Think of it as a natural way to encourage flow, soften puffiness and restore a healthy glow.

What is lymphatic drainage?

Our lymphatic system is responsible for moving fluid, toxins and waste away from our tissues and toward the lymph nodes, helping our body feel lighter and function at its best. But, this automated process relies on movement and gentle pressure to keep the lymph flowing efficiently.

When supported, your lymphatic system helps the skin look clearer, lighter and more refreshed. When it slows, fluid can build up beneath the skin, creating puffiness, congestion and a dull, heavy appearance.

Why your skin feels puffy after indulgence

After indulgent meals, increased salt/sugar intake, alcohol, travel or periods of inactivity, lymphatic flow can slow, leading to puffiness or a heavy, stagnant feeling in the skin. The eye area is likely to be the first to show signs of this stagnant flow, with a puffy, dull and tired look.

Gentle lymphatic drainage rituals simply support and enhance our body’s natural processes, helping your skin look softer, fresher and more alive!

Restoring your healthy glow

Lymphatic drainage isn’t about force or intensity, it’s about softness, consistency and intention. When practiced regularly, even just for a few minutes, it becomes a powerful ritual for both skin health and nervous system support. The benefits of lymphatic drainage include:

  • Reduces facial puffiness and fluid retention
  • Softens the appearance of dark circles
  • Encourages a brighter, more even glow
  • Relieves facial tension and jaw tightness
  • Helps your skin absorb skincare more effectively

How to do lymphatic drainage at home

What you need:

Step 1: Cleanse your skin and apply your Restore Serum (face)  to allow your facial tool or fingertips to glide over your skin effortlessly. Ensure you have enough serum, never drag or pull the skin.

Step 2: Begin with gentle, sweeping motions down the neck toward the collarbones to open the lymphatic pathways. This helps prepare the system before working on the face.how to do lymphatic drainage at home diagram chest underarmStep 3: Move to the face using light pressure only. Sweep from the centre of the face outward, from nose to ears, under the eyes toward the temples and along the jawline toward the ears. Finish by gently guiding everything down the sides of the neck.

Step 4: Finish with your moisturiser and support lymphatic flow internally by staying well hydrated. Water, gentle movement and deep breathing all enhance the benefits.
